About Us

I spent 2 years searching for the right breed of dog. I ended up choosing the Field Spaniel because I wanted an athletic dog of moderate build that would be conducive to city life.

Finding the right dog takes time and I was prepared to wait. After being on a waiting list for about 6 months, it seemed as though the right dog fell into my lap. Through Karen Balinski I brought home Arthur, Killara’s Riders On The Storm, in March of 2007.

Arthur was the mellow boy in the litter who enjoyed his alone time. It took him little to no time to get used to fast pace of city life.

CONFORMATION

We first entered the conformation ring in Belvidere, IL. in July of 2007. We were very green and would have been completely lost without the guidance of our new field spaniel friends.  We took Reserve to a 3 point major both days. Since then, we’ve been hooked and have been showing 1-2 times a month.

HUNTING

Field spaniels were bred for flushing and retrieving birds. As a born and bred city girl I had a very limited knowledge of this sport and relied completely on Karen and her husband Jay for guidance. I drive Arthur to South West Michigan as often as possible so Karen and Jay can work with him in the field. At home we do some very basic hold and retrieve exercises putting Arthur well on his way to earning his JH title.

AGILITY

Agility is a great team building activity for you and your dog. Arthur is a naturally fearless performer. No jump is too high or too long. We train once a week in with Hawk City K9.

OBEDIENCE

Arthur will begin training for competitive obedience at Call Of The Wild with trainer, Jennifer Boznos.
